Watson's Theory of Man Caring

Background and major concepts of Watson's Theory of Human Caring Dr . Jean Watson is considered a theorist, a philosopher, and a healer. She aimed her life works towards the science of human caring and recommended a new and innovative method of the nurse-patient interaction. Doctor Watson started again her lifestyle career because " dedicated to the phenomena of individual caring, and inner subjective feelings, feelings and experiences” (" Dr . Jean Watson, " in. d. ). Her theory, introduced in 1970, was formerly based on Nightingale's concepts of nursing (Fitzpatrick & Whall, 2005). However , her look at of caring as a vital part of nursing jobs care continues to be developed at present. Watson's theory focuses on the benefits of the caring relationship between your nurse as well as the patient. In respect to her view, the patient and nurse participate in a psychic and trans dimensional point of view in their conversation. (Blais, 2011). George (2011), proposes a concrete description of Watson's theory: " The fact of Watson's theory is caring for the objective of promoting curing, preserving pride, and improving the wholeness and interconnectedness of humankind. ” (p. 454). In respect to Blais (2011), Watson's theory of caring comes with three major concepts: the nurse-patient transpersonal caring romance, the carative factors as well as the caring second. In a transpersonal caring relationship, both the heart of the person and the nurse interact within a caring instant following the carative factors (Fitzpatrick & Whall, 2005). Within this process, a " human-to-human connectedness” takes place (George, 2011). On the other hand, the carative factors are based on individual values that promote an effective nurse-client connection. According to George (2011), Watson proposed these elements as a " philosophical and conceptual tips for nursing” (p. 458). Although these elements originated in lates 1970s, they were additional expanded and redefined in 2008 (Watson, 2012). A caring moment occurs the moment nurse and patient " come together using their unique life histories and phenomenal field in a human-to-human transaction” (George, 2011, l. 459). Place differently, a caring minute defines the first interaction among patient and nurse by a humanistic perspective. That will put it on Watson's terms: " An emphasis is put in helping a person gain more self-knowledge, self-control, self-caring, and interior healing of self, regardless of the external health condition. The registered nurse is viewed as a coparticipant in the human caring-healing process. Consequently , a high benefit is placed on the relationship between nurse and other” (Watson, 2012, g. 46).

Personal knowledge

As nursing staff, we work with Watson's theory on a daily basis devoid of realizing the influence of the actions in our patients' recovery and wellbeing. Since I had the opportunity to research Watson's theory of caring in this category, I can relate to her perspective of breastfeeding with a philosophical approach. If I had to decide on a caring minute in my medical career, I would personally think right away about my experiences like a hospice doctor. Although it was an emotional job position, I actually enjoyed my personal role because I supplied care with compassion and respect. Each day I discovered something interesting about relationships and thoughts, and most with the days My spouse and i helped my own patients expire in tranquility. However , one specific case comes to my mind as a excellent example of a caring minute and transpersonal relationship: the case of Mr. A. Mister. A. was a Hispanic aged male just lately diagnosed with a terminal disease. He was extremely weak and needed modest assistance to full his Actions of Daily Living. Mr. A had spotty pain that was relieved only by morphine, yet his friends and family had inconsistant views regarding the administration on this medication. I came to understand Mr. A and his family members very well mainly because we put in four nights in a row together. In the mornings, I left their home to...
