INTRODUCTION

A language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols used for man communication (Wardhaugh, in Ramelan 1984). Dialect is one of the best emblems of social behavior. In the typical transfer details through language, we use language to send vital social messages regarding who we could, where all of us come from, and who we associate with. It is often surprising to realize how extensively we may judge someone�s background, personality, and intentions based just upon the person's language, language, or, in some instances, even the choice of a single term. According to Fishman, for example, socially, the language use requires " Whom speaks, what language, who, when and where” (Fishman, 1972: 244). Sociolinguistic is the study of language. Relating to Janet Holmes sociolinguistic is a term that refers to the study of the relationship between terminology and culture, and how dialect is used in multilingual conversation communities. There are some parts in sociolingustic including: varieties of terminology, taboo and euphemism, etc . South Kalimantan has some neighborhood languages and one of them can be Banjarese that has two main dialects, they are really Banjar Kuala and Banjar Hulu. This research is taken place in Sewangi Island, Alalak, South Kalimantan. Alalak is one of the regions in South Kalimantan. Mostly, the individuals in Alalak are Banjarese which uses Banjarese his or her first vocabulary. II. 1Problem

The problems on this study happen to be:

1 . What are the language varieties of certain community?

2 . Precisely what are the differences among local people and native foreigner? III. 1Objective

1 . To describe the language varieties of selected community.

2 . To find out right after between residents and local foreigner.
